ESSENTIALS W/ ANA SAMARAS

Who said that timeless classics couldn't have a bit of edge? Come with me as I dive into the chic and glamorous lifestyle of Australian born fashion designer Ana Samaras and her essential items that come together to create her stylish get up.

Let's talk shoes. A staple piece in the closet of Samaras, from red-bottoms to knee high padded heels there's a variety to tap into. "Shoes are the epitome of ones identity, you show me your shoes and I'll tell you who you are," says Ana on the topic of what she sees fit in terms of fashioning identities. Ana started off her creative career by competing in the Australian Teenage Fashion Awards, which she went on to win consecutively three years in a row statewide, and nationally, from the early age of 14. One year, Samaras created a three piece, multi-layered gown; stating that the "electrifying dusty pink colours resonate throughout my garment, creating a glamorous and high fashion runway look." Accompanying the dress were a pair of metallic pink Maison Valentino studded heels. "They played a very important part in the design aesthetics (...) the shoes had to embody the gown."

Ever had to walk more than a kilometre in heels, Ana has; and in this pair of her signature Yves Saint Laurent Tribute Platform Sandals in a dark pink patent leather. "They feel as if I am wearing sneakers, like a pair of Nike Dunks or something... ultimate comfort." "I wear them to go shopping, for brunch, to a nightclub, food shopping, literally anywhere and anytime, painless style," says Ana while commenting on her multi-use high heels that she describes as "stepping on carpet." No rubbing allowed in here. Due to the patent leather, there is not a single sign of rubbing or blistering after a full day of wear, also after lasting four years, this pair of pristinely kept classics are a strong must and recommendation for anyone wanting to splash their cash on some designer pumps.

Well, well, well, look where we find ourselves, in awe over the stunning Aevitas Medusa Heels by Versace. "A light romance with a rigorous edge," develops this sense of tampered beauty with a raw need for divergence in an outfit. "Daring to be bold, daring to be heard, daring to be beautiful, these imposingly elegant shoes evoke a sense of melodrama" in their breath-taking satin pink finish. Hints of rhinestones pull the shoes together when clasped around the ankle before taking to the streets of London for the audiences that these shoes demand.

What is an outfit without a bag? A staple piece to many who adore fashion as Ana does. Bringing them to the forefront of her outfits. Firstly, let us kick it all of with an almighty Chanel Bouclé Pearl and Crystal Flap Bag in red and white tweed, or 'Penelope', as named by Ana. "It is one of the most unique bags that I own" something different and specific that no-one else really can grasp, that is what Ana aims for, being able to separate herself from the rest, in having something exclusive. "From texture to elegance, Penelope is the definition of class."

What's better than a regular Lady Dior bag? I hear you ask. A Nano Lady Dior bag that is; in a bright green colourway. Practically speaking, I am not sure on how many things you could fit inside at one time, though is that truly the point of owning such an iconic bag? Credit Card? Check. Gum? Check... yeah that's about it. "I actually manifested this bag last year September," then going on to say that "when I was invited by Dior in Selfridges to model their new collection to send off to Paris I was introduced to their newest baby!!!" This bag might not be able to fit a lot inside, but that won't stop Ana from taking it out on the town and falling in-love with it all over again; even stating that it is "the only bag in my collection that fits nothing inside of it other than a mini lipgloss."

Ana just loves to travel, having been to the fabulous province of Monaco this summer and constantly flying between University in London and Adelaide where she resides with her family, travel essentials are a must. Complete between a Louis Vuitton Horizon 55 suitcase and All-In, she is jetset. Adorned with a personalised, initialled tag stating "A.N.A", that really all pull together the aesthetic that is travelling first class. "Definitely worth every penny!! From travel to work to uni, this bag holds it all [...] Travel with elegance, arrive in style." I couldn't have said it any better myself. These bags are all to play for and can fit a lifetime inside. On the go travel bags from this brand are unmistakably beautiful and truly do push your voyages up just that extra notch to allow you to travel first class wherever you may go...

Finally, to finish off this ensemble of accessories, is jewellery. Whether gold, silver, plated or diamond encrusted - any form of jewellery just embodies excellence to add to any outfit. It shows commitment and professionalism in some cases too.

Ana is no stranger when it comes to this side to fashion with a ring on each finger it was hard to narrow it down to the select few to deliver honourable mentions of. We eventually decided that her gold, three diamond Cartier love ring was to be at the forefront of representation as a family similarity, each member has one adorned on their hand. Ana told me that her family vows "always and forever" something that is significant in the background of this ring. Each member of the family has one as if bonded together. A reminder that "Near or far, our love, support and trust for each other can never break" a resonating sentiment that really is encapsulated within the Cartier Love Ring collection.

Tiffany T rings are just immaculate, with Ana's in a gold finish and half diamond encrusted, it is a masterpiece to gaze upon. It isn't hard to miss with the large 'T' motif wrapped around the finger, elegance and edge in a beautiful clash. It was something that Ana was given by her mother "as a goodbye present upon my departure from Australia". It also represents the undying bond that Ana and her mother share, "I feel like I am carrying her love with me wherever I go." Again, encrusted with diamonds at the base of the T, this is a staple piece that would happily compliment anything from a Pangaia tracksuit set, to a Giambattista Valli gown.

Adorning the right hand is a vintage looking gold loop ring that fits snuggly around the finger. It was Ana's great-grandmother's ring "passed down generation to generation" in a timelessly elegant fashion. Worn day in, day out, Ana holds this ring close to her heart stating that: "Whenever I wear this ring, I feel confident, powerful and unstoppable," something that we here at Asthetik Magazine believe to be a very important aspect to fashion. Clothing should give you this boost that maybe you never knew you even had.
