LOUIS VUITTON™ : MEN'S F/W 2020 COLLECTION

Updated: Nov 4, 2024

Who would have thought that clouds on clothes would work so perfectly...? Louis Vuitton did! This is the Men's Fall/Winter 2020 collection from Louis Vuitton and it is here to make a statement. With the natural colours of the sky reflected in the artistry which are each individual item of the campaign, here at ästhetik magazine we believe that these garments and accessories are going to make a definitive mark on the world of fashion and change the way that certain colours are worn.

From sunglasses and Keepalls, to ready-to-wear items which can be worn on the daily; this collection has it all. Louis Vuitton's designer Virgil Abloh has really stepped up the bar in the world of fashion in this collection and we are here for it. In this post, we will be discussing items from the collection and how we, at ästhetik magazine would pair them with other outfits.

KEEPALL BANDOULIÈRE 50

First off, the staple piece of the collection is the Keepall Bandoulière 50 with the iconic cloud print on the side. Priced at £1,910, the bag comes equipped with the handles, tag and usual shoulder strap, the overall state of the bag and reflects in the colours as they are all a solid sky blue. Fitted with silver zips and matching the padlock, the Keepall is a true rendition of the various tones we see in the sky above us; almost as if the silver represents the light from behind the clouds or a even a state of heaven, which is exactly how we feel here at ästhetik magazine when viewing this masterpiece of a product.

With its prominent blue and white colours, this bag is quite the statement and you may feel that it might be hard to watch within an outfit. However, with a possible trench coat in a pale grey, paired with some beige chinos and a plain bucket hat, you are fit to go and you will be looking incredible.

1.1 Millionaires Sunglasses

Prohibition inspired and angular, these 1.1 Millionaire Sunglasses are the epitome of the spectacle world. Leading the fashion world by storm, Louis Vuitton are always coming up with these magnificent designs which are sure to catch your eye. With a price tag from £545.00, the millionaire sunglasses are based upon, as mentioned earlier, the prohibition era; which Vuitton states in the description of the items on their website. In our opinion, it is due to the fact that in the design, are essences of the 1920s being reflected in the gold lustre and cubic effects which piece the item together fluidly.

"How can you wear these?" we hear you ask...

When putting together an outfit it is always essential to coordinate the colours of each individual piece to compliment the other. The newest silver edition of the 1.1 Millionaire Sunglasses, unveiled in the FW20 show, were debuted alongside a tsunami of blue and white, inferring an sense of weightlessness. Therefore, it is important that you keep the outfit 'light' when using colours and other garments. Try a baby blue, solid yellow and white with hints of foggy pale greys here and there.

Leather Clouds Bomber

The almost water-coloured, pale leather cloud bomber in the FW20 show is piece that I'm sure not many people forgot. Subtle yet understated, fierce yet sleek, it plays the field in various areas. Louis Vuitton states that it reflects the 'Heaven on Earth' theme which has entailed throughout the entirety of the collection, from the way in which, in our opinion, keeps it cool with the chosen colours and emphasis on the way in which the clouds have been displaced upon the material of the jacket. As opposed to the other garments in the collection, this jacket has a different tone, softer. It compliments the rest of the collection in showing that there can be a contrast from heaven to earth and not everything is the same.

At £4,950, the jacket is a dear price, yet for the pure quality, it is a solid purchase. You can be rest-assured that you have made the right decision with a purchase like this. The craftsmanship and overall message this jacket conveys is pure excellence. Furthermore, it could be styled brilliantly with a set of beige/nude chinos and a solid boot, alongside a keep all of any choice of a mute tonality.

LV Trainers

'Ebene' and 'Monogram Eclipse' are the only two colour combinations these trainers are available in, yet they are undeniably beautiful and stately. These shoes are a mix of Suede Calf Leather skin and Mesh, both complimentary and smooth textures which balance each other out to give an overall soft look to the elegant trainers these are. 'Inspired by basketball shoes', Louis Vuitton states, and of which are designed by the Artistic Director of Louis Vuitton himself, Virgil Abloh; something we would expect, seeing as these are of such a high standard of detail, with almost translucent soles and a swish t the 'LV' logo, the shoe creates movement, something of which we believe Virgil wanted to portray, being that they are meant to take on the swiftness of sport. £890.00 is what these masterpieces are priced at, again, expensive but what you'd expect for this level of design and execution.

Paired with a set of straight leg pants or even slim, the styling of the shoe will fit to a variety of fits. However, one thing to be sure of is that the colours which compliment the iconic gold and brown of the 'Ebene' pair, would certainly be an earthy tone of chino or even a patchwork corduroy pant. On the other hand, with the 'Monogram Eclipse', it would be wise to wear a matching darker pant or suit to highlight the grey and ashy tones of the shoe, in order to allow it to stand out of the crowd and run its own show.

So, there is our Top 4. We hope that what we had to tell you was worthwhile and helped you to perceive a better understanding of the excellent Louis Vuitton FW20 show. All of these items are available on the brand website and in-store!

Get out there and rock those airy designs, remember to piece them together correctly and bear in mind the changing weather and temperatures as we are merging into the Autumnal season. Wrap up warm and wear those earthy tones which will reflect upon you in great fashion from the leaves and the changing scenery.
