THE LATEST TECHNOLOGY BEING USED IN FASHION SCHOOLS ACROSS THE WORLD

Updated: Apr 4, 2022

Have you ever wondered how fashion schools are keeping up with eh new and ever-expanding technological times? Well now there's a clear answer and it is eye-opening.

Constructing a garment online may seem easy, but it is not a simple task to bring to the table. Across the world, countless fashion schools are upping their games to introduce the latest technology into their classes. Softwares capable of modelling a 3D garment of your design and choosing. Involving mathematics and art/design, the technology being introduced now is shaping the way that many fashion schools are teaching/tutoring their students.

Let's take it back to the roots. Design technology usually gets introduced to teens as they enter high school, curriculums now feel that it is important to teach them to use softwares such as CAD on computers. This builds the essential foundations of knowledge needed in order for these students to go on into the wider world and be able to utilise their skills to create garments digitally as well as physically. Skills that pretty much everyone should have.

Times are moving forward and countless industries are fearing being left behind to rot in the past, as of now, fashion schools around the world, especially France are using the latest softwares to prevent the risk of losing the battle with technology. The world is a fast moving project that we are all currently working on, there's always a positive when there's something to help improve the pace at which you work at, in this case it is this software. We can't complain!

With surprisingly good rendering and graphics, "CLO3D" is an example of excellence when it comes to digital fashion softwares. Being used in schools such as ESMOD in Paris, it is used on the school computers as a module in their school years for those aspiring fashion designers, wanting to make their name in the world of the arts.

“Sustainable Fashion is not a trend but the future”- Antonia Böhlke (Founder of Mochni.com)

In this day and age, as well as futuristic technology, we can't forget about sustainability and the environmental impact of our actions... or do we? The more we work online, and from home, the lower our carbon footprint really is, well, depending on how you source your energy. But mostly it is now not always from a controversial root. With less waste and more time, learning and working online and allows student across the world to reach their fuller potential. Forget cut-offs and unwanted material, allow yourself to design to what you need exactly, without the cutting and pasting and re-doing that the majority of students tend to do.

So, overall Ästhetik Magazine believes that this form of teaching is a big step forward in advancing to more of a sustainable future in the fashion industry. First the brands and now the schools, starting the impression of needing to care for our planet from a younger age teaches these students the importance of sustainability earlier, which is always good.
